Job Description

Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Sharepoint

Reports to IT Infrastructure Team Leader

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

Reporting to the IT infrastructure team leader, the Sharepoint senior infrastructure engineer works in a constantly evolving environment due to technological advances and the strategic direction of the organisation. Creating, maintaining, and improving systems to meet the business requirements, you will be required to provide support, administration and development of the Sharepoint environment. You will diagnose both hardware and software systems to resolve system faults quickly.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineering role requires a high level of knowledge of physical and logical infrastructure technologies and skills in configuration and support of all associated systems with a core focus upon the Sharepoint technologies. The role also requires writing documentation for all systems to ensure efficiency during the support process. The senior engineer must be able to work independently often working on more that one project at a time and be able to absorb new information quickly.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Provision of support, administration and development of the Sharepoint on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments.

* Actively works on Sharepoint and related Infrastructure projects.

* Contribute to and help develop the IT strategic architecture and business use of Sharepoint and its integration with other IT technologies.

* Development of Sharepoint sites, workflows and management.

* Participate on resolving P1 incidents impacting the full Infrastructure hardware or software, outside of core business hours.

* Prioritize and manage many open support Incidents and Change tickets at one time.

* Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)

* Work with third party companies to make sure that a give project/task is completed to the highest standard, and within company policies.

* Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.

* Troubleshoot systems and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.

* Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system

* Support the roll-out of new applications

* Test and evaluate new technology

* Must be technically minded and understand mainstream computing and networking plat-forms and operations and a full understanding of virtualisation technology and principles.

* Attend meetings to discuss evolving environment and technological advances surrounding the current information technology landscape.

* Sharepoint Infrastructure development, administration and support.

* Sharepoint site administration

* Sharepoint workflow management development

* ITIL Incident and Problem management.

* Perform problem determination and root cause analysis to give effective resolution to problems
